Jenny: Our goal for the community resource guide is to collaborate to include system wide programs and services available for children 0-8 and their families, in the four domains of early childhood: early learning, health, mental health and family support.
Missy Rodey will be the representative from the Early Childhood Council of La Plata County, as she will be coordinating the activities of the Health Integration Grant that we received from the Colorado Trust.

Year 1
Nov 09-Oct 10
|
Activities:
Utilize ECC partners to identify all active countywide programs providing early childhood services (asset inventory). Obtain program descriptions/specifications for data base.
Partner with United Way of Southwest Colorado’s (UWSWC) 2-1-1 development and the Durango Adult Education Center (DAEC) to create a comprehensive bilingual county information/resource website that includes system wide programs and services available for children 0-8 and that is available for use by families and providers. Check readability and usability.
Include Sliding Scale Fee Program information and provider participants in the community website, as well as links to provider websites and parent information such as developmental standards and anticipatory guidance.
Launch a pilot of the website.
|
Plan for Evaluating Activities:
Confirm descriptive data with all early childhood agencies/programs/providers to be included in data base.
Distribute asset inventory among child service providers to determine completeness of listings. Check list against early childhood asset inventories of San Juan Basin Health Department, Southern Ute Indian Tribe, and La Plata County Department of Human Services. Add/modify listings as they become available. Utilize Flesch–Kincaid readability test to assure information is targeted at 5th grade reading level.
Track hits by pages in the website and by time on pages in the website to monitor usage.
Obtain feedback from users of the pilot, using online and WRITTEN SURVEYS, with sepcial attention being given to low income families and providers. Evaluate feedback and modify website entries accordingly.
