The Sustainability Alliance of Southwest Colorado serves as the sustainability networking and education hub for the greater Durango area; we also take strong advocacy positions on climate and energy issues.
Vision
History
The Sustainability Alliance of Southwest Colorado is a nonprofit organization based in Durango, Colorado. We are registered as a 501(c)3 under the fiscal sponsorship of the Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado.
We trace our roots to the 2002 La Plata County Community Summit and the 2003 Sustainable Economic Development Study Circle. A breakout group at the 2004 Community Summit addressed the idea of a "sustainability policy council." Our founding Board of Directors was nominated in December 2005, and they formally adopted bylaws in February 2006.
